Experiences Worth Pre-Booking — Glaneirw Estate, West Wales
A stay at Glaneirw Estate is more than a roof over your head. West Wales has a quietly impressive range of experiences that reward advance planning — from private chef dining delivered to your door to wild coastal sauna sessions and award-winning gin distillery tours. These are the experiences we recommend booking before you arrive.
Private Chef Dining
Arrange for a local private chef to cook a meal in your property, using seasonal West Wales produce. Whether it's a celebratory dinner for the whole group or an intimate meal for two, a private chef turns your holiday kitchen into a restaurant experience without you leaving the estate. Contact us for recommended chefs who work regularly with Glaneirw guests.
Spa & Wellness Treatments
Several therapists and mobile spa providers operate in the Cardigan Bay area and are available to come to your property. Treatments available include massage, facials, reflexology and yoga sessions. We recommend booking at least two weeks in advance, especially during the summer school holiday period.
Coastal Sauna
A wood-fired coastal sauna experience on the shores of Cardigan Bay — cold-water swimming and sauna sessions combined. Several operators offer private bookings for groups, usually running sessions at dawn or dusk when the light on the bay is at its best. This is one of the most distinctive things you can do on the Ceredigion coast and books out quickly in summer.
Gin Tasting at In the Welsh Wind Distillery
In the Welsh Wind is an award-winning craft gin distillery located in a converted barn near Llanarth, around 15 minutes from the estate. They produce a range of distinctive Welsh gins using botanicals foraged from the surrounding Ceredigion landscape. Tours and tasting sessions run throughout the week and can be booked in small groups. The distillery shop stocks the full range for taking home.
Wildlife & Dolphin Watching
Boat trips from New Quay harbour (25 min) offer some of the best wildlife watching in the UK, with regular sightings of the Cardigan Bay resident bottlenose dolphin population — over 100 individuals — as well as grey seals, harbour porpoises, gannets and Manx shearwaters. Trips run from April to October and book out quickly in high season. We recommend booking before you arrive.
Kayaking & Coasteering
The Teifi Gorge (15 min) offers guided kayaking on one of the finest river gorges in Wales, passing below Cilgerran Castle. Coasteering sessions are available with several operators near Aberystwyth and at New Quay. Both activities suit beginners and experienced participants alike.
Cardigan Farmers' Market
Held on the last Saturday of each month in Cardigan town (10 min), the farmers' market brings together some of the finest small producers in Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire — cheese, charcuterie, sourdough, seasonal vegetables, honey, preserves, and street food. If your stay overlaps with a market Saturday, this is worth getting up early for.
